Course Learning Objectives/Outcomes

By the end of the course, the Counselor, Marriage and Family Therapist, Social Worker or Psychologist will be able to:
-Explain the different types of advocacy for victims.
-Explain how can safety plan be effective.
-Explain the barriers Immigrants must overcome when safety planning.
-Explain the Safety Issues for Victims with Mental Health Disabilities.
-Explain the different types of cases and issues that you may encounter when working with victims of crime.
-Explain the common indicators of Human Trafficking.
-Explain how can advocates for battered women educate the system to look beyond the typical victim.
-Explain how Officers can abuse their power.
-Explain the challenge to law enforcement and advocates when any intervention fails the victim of police-perpetrated domestic violence.
-Explain what is victim-centered approach seeking.
-Explain the main focus in responses to victimization.
-Explain what would improve the understanding of the prevalence of the crime, the needs of victims, and the effectiveness of services provided to victims of human trafficking.
-Explain what will allow for more effective and efficient development and distribution of information and materials, increasing the impact of these resources and awareness of human trafficking.
